Jean Carne
's recording career began in 1971 with her then husband Doug Carn. Three albums 'Infant Eyes' (1971), 'Spirit of the New Land' (1972) and 'Revelation' (1973) came out on the influential Black Jazz Records label.

These recordings produced some of her widely ackowledged classic songs such as 'Don't Let It Go To Your Head', 'Was That All It Was', 'Free Love' and more.

Jean Carne joined Motown Records in 1982 for the 'Trust Me' album. Jean Carne has also collaborated with Duke Ellington, Earth, Wind & Fire, George Duke, The Temptations, Dexter Wansel, Kenny Gamble, Stanley Turrentine, Billy Paul, Azar Lawrence, Mtume, Al Johnson ('I'm Back For More'), Bohannon, Rick James, Roy Ayers, Grover Wahsington Jr. and many more.
